Captured Memories- Creative Scrappers Sketch # 222

For my "2 Crafty" reveal please scroll down to my next post.

I'm here with another sketch reveal for Creative Scrappers. I really liked this sketch because I could concentrate on one corner of the page and leave some negative space on the other. I used these fantastic BoBunny Weekend Market papers and a very serious picture of my son that I captured while he wasn't looking. I think he was upset about something and sat down to pout. I snapped a photo right away and this is the result!!

The splatters, drips and tea stain marks were made with actual Orange Peacock tea bags. I learned this really neat technique at Finnabair's seminar last month. You basically take the tea bags and smash them on the paper for splattered effect. Then using a mug or any circular lid, you can make these tea stains on the page. Its so much fun!!!

I used 3 pieces of 2 Crafty Chipboard on this page: The Brick wall, The cogs and the title: Captured Moments. I painted the wall in brown paint and cut some of the ends off. For the cogs, I inked them in acrylic paint and then crackle medium. Finally for the title I used brown flock which I've never used before and then dabbed some paint on top.

My journaling specifically explains my son's mood on that day.

Materials used:
Papers: Weekend Market by BoBunny
Orange Peacock Tea
Ranger Ink Refill Vintage Photo
Ranger Distress Ink: brushed corduroy
Prima Lace, Burlap
Tag: Creative bags
Brown pen
Tim Holtz findings: cogs, charm
2 Crafty Chipboard: Brick Wall, the title: Captured Moments, Cogs

Brickwall (unit of 3)

Captured Moments Title (unit of 3)

Gears (unit of 3)

My ScrapThat! creations in more detail

**FOR MY GIVEAWAY PRESS HERE**

Here are my layouts from the ScrapThat! August Kit in more detail!!

For this first layout, I used blue and brown hues. I started with a circle and some leftover strips of paper. I cut out some flourishes and the title out of the blue cardstock using my Cricut machine.  I clustered the flowers, doilies and the beautiful Prima nest to frame the photo. I used the Kaisercraft rub-ons to balance the page on the opposite side and added some onto the brown envelope.  I tucked some hidden journaling inside the envelope and added some pieces of the chipboard frame behind the it.  Finally I decorated with some pearls

For this layout I slanted the middle paper and added lace and pearls behind it. I ripped some of the edges and added some Prima resin corners and lace underneath. I decorated each area with a rose. I clustered a large flower from my stash, along with a tulle flower I made (see tutorial tomorrow), some small flowers and a butterfly. I used the chipboard frame around the picture. I had to cut it in half and tuck it under the photo. Finally I added the some pearls to accent the patterned paper.
Tip: to get the white effect on the background paper I rubbed it with a wipe. It took some of the blue glossy effect from the top.

For my final layout I used ScrapThat! August Sketch. I made 3 flowers out of my Cricut machine and added some leaves, cheese cloth and butterflies in the cluster.

Thank you for visiting my blog,

Peaceful- Bird is the Word DT

**FOR MY GIVEAWAY PRESS HERE**

Here I am again with a reveal for Bird is the Word.
The word to use today is PEACE. There are so many options with this word. I had so many ideas but I finally went with peaceful because it matched the picture perfectly.
I love this picture so much. I always wanted to take a picture on a railroad track and when I found an unused one this summer I told my kids to start walking on it and then I took a picture of it with my favourite: The Hipstamatic App.

I used these Maja Design papers that came in my August Ces't Magnifique Kit. They are absolutely divine. The soft colors are amazing and I have to say the quality and thickness of the paper is impressive.
I used the CM August Sketch for this layout and it came out soft and dreamy!! one of my faves!

Here are some close-ups. I textured the chipboard with gesso, Texture paint and white stickles.

I love the brick paper that comes in the kit. I cut it out at the edges to make it look like a wall for the background.

I made my own looking Hydrangeas to mimic the background page. Hydrangeas are one of my favourite flowers especially the white ones so I loved this page even more.

I used these resin shutters that I bought at Michaels from the Recollection collection. It makes it seem as if we are viewing the whole scene from a window.

Materials used:
Papers: Maja Designs Vintage Summer Basics, white card stock, packaging.
Chipboard: Leaky Shed, Harmonie
Alphas: Storyteller Stickers by WP
Flowers: Green Tara, Petaloo
Small Flower Punch
EK Success border punch, Martha Stewart Corner Punch
Recollection resin embellishments
Shabby Chic Treasures by Prima: Bird

Celebrating Life Giveaway!!!!

Today is a very special day for me and my family. 12 years ago today I got a second chance at life. I get very emotional when I talk about it so I will just be brief as I don't usually share personal stuff on my blog.

For most of my late teens and early twenties I was very ill. I won't go into too many details but needless to say a very difficult time in my life.  Its not easy to hear at age 24 that you need a liver transplant because simply put those are not the words a young person wants to hear. However my liver failed and I didn't have another choice, if I wanted to live I mean.

Well after waiting 2 years, I got a second chance at life on AUGUST 12, 2000.

I'm very grateful to G-d, to my family, friends, doctors and to my donor's family whom I've never met but they deserve many thanks because while probably going through a very difficult time in their lives, they helped save many other lives including mine. This act of selfless kindness is something I will be in their debt forever. I guess I'll never know if I've repaid that debt but the Universe has this way of spiritually re-balancing itself.

Getting this type of perspective at a very young age, although rough and painful, gave me a wake-up call to appreciate life every single day. To appreciate what I have and how precious it is. Most of us don't discover this lesson until much later in life but I guess I needed some rude awakening early on!!

If I have to send a message to all of you is to simply say PLEASE BE AN ORGAN DONOR, sign your card and donate because you never know!! As my mother would say: "Imagine if it was your child"

Actually I do have one more message and this is dedicated to anyone out there who is going through a difficult time in their lives or anyone who is helping someone else through a rough patch. We all go through pain in our lives at one point or another and no pain is less significant than other. What might be painful to one person might not be to someone else. So I ask you to be more kind, sympathetic even if you can't empathize with someone in pain be there for them. I've always tried to help people in need even if sometimes I've gotten hurt back. But just know unconditional love never goes unnoticed.

I know this much is true because as I was writing this post I got up to get something and when I bent down I cut myself very badly and my skin feels very raw. I felt at that moment as if its a message from G-d telling me to never take anything for granted. Needless to say I still feel the raw pain in my skin to remind me that what I say is true.

with that sappy stuff out of my system I have some great news:

Because this is such an important day for me I wanted to have a giveaway to
