Love Life- Art Journaling Page

I've been in an art journaling mood lately and I created one just for fun!!
I bought this fun new border stamp from Dyan Reavely and used it for this double page spread.
I used Ken Oliver's colour bursts to create the water-colour background.

The butterfly is part of the Tim Holtz perspective stamp set and I stamped it on water-colour paper using archival ink. Then I used Prima's water-colour confections to colour it in.

The Paper flowers kit provided the perfect way to create my own embellishment for my cards and customize it they way I like in terms of textures and colors.

The the Texture Luxe™ Copper paste is beautiful and it looked amazing through the new stencil patterns. I used 3 different stencilled patterns to showcase their versatility.

Inspiration- Blue Fern Studios Mixed Media Art Journaling Page

This is my second grungy texture mixed media journaling page for the Blue Fern Studios blog this month..
This time I used a different set of colours and textures and worked in a smaller journal.

I primed the background with white gesso and then used a diamond bit stencil to create texture in the background with modelling paste.

Then I used the tattered diamond bits chipboard which was embossed in raspberry embossing powder.
I glued the chipboard to the background and then used Prima's sprays and paints to create a dripping pattern on the background. While the embossing powdered area repelled the sprays, it allowed the gold paint to blend on top.
Finally, the Serendipity Inspiration word was embossed in the poinsettia embossing powder color.

Imagination- Blue Fern Studios Art Journaling page

Hi Everyone,
Its Keren here with my first April project for the Blue Fern Studios blog.
As I usually create layouts, I really wanted to to create something different that comes from my heart.
I felt art journaling was the best way to express how I feel and to experiment with the chipboards, embossing powders and glitters. So I created two pages this month.

I also really wanted to create grungy mixed media pages this month so I added lots of texture and movement. My second journaling page will be revealed in a few days.

First I inked the background in green and yellow tones using Color Bursts. Then I stamped the background using the Blue Fern Studios Journey and Textured circles stamps.

The circle was created using Prima's Finnbair Graphite texture paste. Then, I sprinkled embossing powder on it and heat dried it. Finally, I glued the beaded string chipboard piece that was embossed in verdant and seven seas embossing powder.
The Serendipity imagination title was embossed in the 14 Karat embossing powder.

I also used the lattice bits chipboard pieces on my page which were embossed in seven seas, verdant and 14 karat embossing powders, too. The heart was embossed only in the 14 Karat embossing powder.
At the end, I also sprinkled some Fool's gold glitter on the background. I used Finnabair soft gloss gel to glue it.

Hello-Happy-Smile ATC set

Hi Everyone,
Here is a set of 10 ATC's that I created and sent to a few people around the world who are part of an ATC exchange.

I never thought I would like to make ATC's as much as I do.
I think its the sense of accomplishment in a very short period of time that makes it so fun to do.
Since they're so small, you don't have to put a lot on them to make them beautiful.

The background of these ATCs was done using a Gelli-plate. I used an 11x8.5 water-colour paper and created a fun mono-printed background using Gelli-printing.

The backgrounds were created on a live show on my Ustream channel.
The show was done in spanish as my audience was from South America. However I did add subtitles after it was recorded. Just press the CC subtitles button and you will have the english translation.

Here is the video below:

Once I cut the background into 10 ATCs, I stencilled the DecoArt Swirl stencil with white heavy gesso and added some embellishments and words. The hearts were also cut from the leftover background paper, so nothing went to waste.

Gelli-Plate

Tim Holtz black soot distress ink pad

Heal- 7 Dots Studio Mixed Media Shadow Box Frame

Hi Everyone,
Here is a project I created for the 7 Dots Studio blog
Its a mixed media shadow box frame with lots of texture and technique!!

I created this artsy shadow box frame as a gift to my husband. My husband is a Chiropractor and I wanted to design a mixed media piece for him to hang in his office. I had a plastic spine shaped object from an old key-chain he used to have. I used it as the centre piece of my art work.

I wanted to create a very vintage, worn out looking piece, so I used one of my all time favourite collections Dreamer. The colours in the Dreamer collection were perfect to use to create this effect. I used the "Daydreaming" paper to wrap and cover the wooden frame. Then I used the "Sleepless" paper as accents.
I also used lots of chipboard to embellish the shadow box both on the edges and as an anchor for the spine.

Frolic in the Sun- Blue Fern Studios Sketch challenge

Here is the layout I created for April's Blue Fern Studios sketch challenge.
I used the Serendipity collection Fascination paper for this beach themed picture of my daughter.

Here is the sketch if you want to play along:

I love taking pictures of my kids running on a beach. I love it when they're carefree and having fun, free of worries and loving the moment. That's exactly what my daughter was doing when she was running back and forth on the shore.

The pattern in the background was created with the DecoArt swirl stencil and Prima's Chalkboard paint Egg Blue. I then added texture with the Blue Fern Studios Journey stamp.

I framed the photo with the Blue Fern Studios Circle Vine which was embossed in Blue Fern Studios Blue sky embossing powder. Then used the Frolic in the Sun title which was painted in white gesso.
