This is my fourth layout revealed on my blog for C'est Magnifique February Kit:
"Royal Tea Party"
These pictures were taken this past summer by the lake as I was helping my daughter catch minnows with a net.
This was the first layout I designed after my winter holidays. I had so many ideas in my head but I guess I was a little rusty after such a long break. It took me so many hours to design it and no matter what I did I wasn't happy with the final outcome. I got so frustrated with it that I took the whole layout apart and re-built it. I originally had it on a dark blue background and I couldn't figure out what wasn't working for me. I finally lifted the whole layout out and transferred it to the light beige background and then I relaxed.
I really think its important for designers to share their good and bad experiences. Showing how it can be so frustrating sometimes to find the right "look" for your project, the one that makes you happy. However when you finally do, it is so rewarding.
Now I really wanted to share what I did with the Blue Fern frame. As you can see, I cut it in half to frame my two photos at the edge of the paper. I roughly painted it in light blue acrylic and then stamped it with white script. Finally I lightly painted it with brown Shimmerz paint in different areas.

I agree! It's good to share how things might not 'gel' & then how you fixed it...helps us to realise sometimes LOs come together easily - but not always!!! And I LOVE ADORE that big flower....yummy:):):)
Gorgeous layout! Love that BF frame and even though you yourself say you feel rusty this looks spotless to me... :-)
I've played with those Maja papers for many years and thought I had seen any variations that could be had with them. Seeing them in the CEM February kit and what you in the DT have created with them made me literally swoon and drool! it proves that seeing things with fresh eyes makes the creative process rejuvenated. I can SO relate to the frustration when a page simply won't finish and the feeling of "yes!" when I finally get it right. Your page is GORGEOUS in so many ways Keren!! Do I need to say I LOVE it? mwah!
Well I think that ultimately it turned out wonderful Keren!! I know just what you mean and I'll be sharing a similar experience myself soon!! I've decided that this year I'm going for a 'warts and all' approach too and sharing the bad experiences too! You certainly turned this one around for the better and I would never have guessed tho!!
WOW!!! you rocked with this layout! I don't know how it looked with the dark blue background, but now it's looks fab!
