September 1st challenge at Once Upon a Sketch is based on the sketch below. The journaling criteria for this challenge was to write about a memorable year and include it in the title. I choose 2008 because it is the year we adopted our daughter from Russia. I used these amazing Kaisercraft papers with Russian nesting dolls because it fit the theme so well. The title of the layout says Buba in Hebrew which means Doll. the journaling is hidden behind the big Nesting Doll. I traced another doll and used a hinge to make them open up for writing (as you can see in the close-up pictures). I liked this idea because nesting dolls usually have other dolls inside of them.
Our daughter is now almost 5 years old. She is such a happy child and enjoys life to the fullest!!
Knowing from where she came from, being in an orphanage for the first 2 years of her life, we are so fortunate to have her in our lives!!
