Dreamroad This Way- Art Journaling Page for the 7 Dots Studio May Challenge

I created an art journaling page using the Dreamscapes and Hazy Days collections from 7 Dots Studio for their May Challenge. The theme of the challenge is "Dreams and Aspirations"
I had a specific idea for this page but it didn’t turned out at all like I expected; it actually turned out better.
The page took a turn on its own which made me realize that I must follow my heart and intuition when creating. It really fit the theme of this challenge perfectly as I really felt as if my dreams really know the way and I must follow!! There is a video tutorial above on how I created this art journaling page.

I'm showing how I created this page and where the "mistakes happened" that lead me to create it this way.

Here is the video tutorial below:

This video really emphasizes one of the most common mistakes people believe about Mixed media. In this case the point about: "Being Afraid of Making Mistakes".
I recently created a video emphasizing the 10 most common misconceptions people believe abut Mixed Media.

Stroll Through the Hood Challenge with N* Studio

I'm excited to participate as a guest designer in Nathalie Kalbach's "Stroll Through Hood" challenge

What is the Stroll Challenge? Go on an Artful Adventure with us! Find inspiration by taking a “Stroll Through The Hood” and observing the details of the world around you. Anyone can join in on the fun by following the list of daily prompts.
today's prompt is Ground and as a guest designer I took a picture representing that prompt and made a project based on the picture. You can find it all below:

Each day during the challenge, you will have a new word to inspire you. Go for a stroll outside, snap a photo of something that you feel illustrates the word of the day, and build a collection of visual material to inspire your artwork, art journaling, and mixed media projects. Along the way you’ll discover things about your Hood that you may have never noticed before, and you’ll learn to find inspiration just outside your door. Use #ArtfulAdventures on social media and share your photos and the projects you were inspired to make.
Join the FREE classroom for several tutorials, projects from Surprise Guests, comments from fellow Artful Adventurers, and chances to win copies of Nat's new book Artful Adventures in Mixed Media."
You can pre-order Nathalie's book Artful Adventures by pressing the link.

Here is the picture I took for my prompt.
Isn't it beautiful. I just love this shot of the ground as if its alive!!!

When I took the picture of the ground for the challenge, I loved seeing everything around it., The intertwined roots, shrubs, leaves and dirt forming a beautiful organism around the tree, This lead me to imagine a beautiful textured tree with its roots sticking out of the ground. I imagined a tree waiting for spring, without any sprouted leaves. I loved creating this tree and using materials that made it look three dimensional. Looking at the earth around the roots and feeling how grounded it all looked, helped me come up with the perfect quote: "I am rooted to the ground”. This quote is very meaningful to me as I like feeling grounded just like the tree. I love feeling the earth protecting me. I truly love trees and I felt this prompt was perfect for how I felt!!

Anchors Away- Mixed Media Altered Wooden Anchor for 7 Dots Studio with Video Tutorial

Hi Everyone,
Today I altered a wooden anchor home decor using the 7 Dots Studio Destination Unknown collection. I love creating beach themed projects, they are some of my favourite things to create. This collection of course is perfect for this theme and I’ve used it many times for this theme. I wanted the anchor to look as if it had sunk many years ago in the ocean and got covered in algae, molluscs, barnacles, shells and starfish. I used real shells and starfish to embellish as well as chipboard pieces from the same collection.

Here is the video tutorial below:

Here are some close-ups of the anchor.  The texture from the paste, stones and embellishments makes this really look like a sunken anchor.
