Butterfly Canvas- Blue Fern Studios

Here is my second project  for the Blue Fern Studios blog.

I really love experimenting with Mixed Media Products.
It has become my passion and so today I'm showcasing my first project this month which  heavily based on mixed media using many different Blue Fern Studios chipboard pieces

It is a 6x6 Shadow Box Frame Butterfly Canvas.

The whole canvas was inverted and framed with the Chelsea Frame. The frame was embossed in blue embossing powder and then dabbed with silver acrylic paint.

The centre of the canvas was filled with blue and silver glass beads. Then I glued a piece of the Turkish bits chipboard on the background.  Finally i used two butterflies from the Gabrielle butterfly set. All three pieces were embossed in either blue, silver or white respectively.

Let There Be Light- Blue Fern Studios

My first project this month for Blue Fern Studios is a Steampunk 8x10 Mixed Media Canvas using different mechanical looking chipboard pieces and a real light bulb.

Its called
"Let there be light"

I glued many different mechanical chipboard pieces like the cogs and gears, the light bulbs, the industrial corner, the working parts and some of the moving parts chipboard pieces.

They were all covered in black gesso and then painted on top with different metallic paints.

The final touch was adding a real light bulb from my house. We recently changed a few of our light bulbs inside our home and so I've been using them in many of my projects. I figure its better to recycle them than throw them away.

I am Delaina Burns and  I have been an avid scrapbooker since 2006.  I have been blessed with many wonderful design team positions, publications, and teaching opportunities over the years. I am excited and honored to join Scrapberry's Design Team. It's going to be an awesome year!

My name is Keren Tamir and I live in Canada. I am a wife to a wonderful husband who is very supportive of my art and a mother of two amazing kids; a 14 year old boy and an 8 year old girl. I’ve been scrapbooking for 11 years and I mainly scrapbook about my family.
I love to create and experiment with many different mediums and techniques. My style is always evolving and that’s one of the things I love about this art.
One of the main reasons I started scrapbooking was to preserve memories and photos for my children. However over the couple of years, I’ve started to enjoy another aspect of scrapbooking. I love the artistic outlet that it gives me. I love to create and I’m passionate about what I do.
I’m delighted to join Scrapberrys on this new adventure.

My name is Melissa Phillips and I am so excited to be part of the Scrapberry's Design Team. I love all things paper-crafting related, especially cards and gift packaging. My style is very feminine and I love shabby chic, vintage, and homespun. I am a mom to a darling, blue-eyed 12-year old girl, and a wife to a hard-working, sweet, and supportive farm boy from Souther Nevada. I look forward to sharing my works of art with you as I serve with the other members of the Scrapberry's Design Team.

I am Olga Kolov, the wife of a wonderful man, that honored my passion and mom of 2 creative boys, aged 3 and 8, that honored my scrapbooking staff.  Our family lives in wonderful small town Oldenburg in north Germany, near to Bremen. We have a house with a cat ;)
As designer, I am in love with shabby chic, vintage style and mixed media. I make cards, canvas and altered art.

My name is Raquel, though I’m known as Tati Scrap in the craft´s world. The name "Tati" is in memory to my lovest dog Tati....she died in 2013, the year I started to be a crafter, and it is my tribute to her. I´m 40 years old, I was born in Cádiz City, Spain, where the weather is always warm and sunny! I'm a nurse of emergencies..love my profession.
When I discovered the scrapbooking in June of 2013, it challenges me...  and I do not need nothing else that my nurse scissors and many ideas in my mind. I am honoured to have been a part of the awesome Scrapberry´s Design Team this year...  it is a dream !!

Hello, I'm Terhi Koskinen from Finland. Scrapbooking is more than a hobby for me, it's a lifestyle - it starts with photograph session and ends when I get my creation where I wanted. And then it starts again. My style is modern, fresh and simple, and my creations have always lots of layers with different medias, matching colors, straight lines and touch of something shiny. Always lots of textures and something soft too, like my favorite thing thread.
I get my inspiration from pictures I take during the days, in another words from my everyday life: I'm mother for two beautiful daughters, wife for my handsome husband and studious planning assistant in my day time job. In addition to crafting, I horse-ride, so that's one more topic to my creations.

My name is Yasmin Tölche, I'm a Norwegian girl born in 1980. Mom to three awesome boys, Felix, Collin and Finnley. I'm happily married to Kristian and together we live in a small mountain village in Kyrksæterøra, Norway with our Rottweiler, Penny. I'm a stay at home mom, doing postings online for a Norwegian scrapbook store and I do a bit of photography. I started scrapbooking in 2005, discovered the hobby at a friends house and been doing it ever since! I love all paper realated; doing cards, layouts, mini albums and paper projects. I'm a major scrapbook hoarder! Live, love, breathe paper crafts. I'm so excited to be a part of Scrapberry's designteam with such awesome talent! I feel truly blessed.

Design Team Coordinator:
My name is Romy and I live in a small village in the Netherlands together with my parents, two brothers and our crazy cats. I'm 22 years old and at daytime I'm a University student majoring in Linguistics. At night I'm an avid scrapbooker and cardmaker. I was introduced to scrapbooking almost 9 years ago and haven't looked back ever since. It's a great way to combine my passion for photography, my obsession to document memories and my love for papercrafting. I make lay-outs, cards, tags, mini albums and also altered  items every once in a while. My style is usually layered, romantic and elegant. I feel truly blessed to be the design team coordinator for Scrapberry's and to coordinate this amazingly talented team of artists.

We all can't wait to start inspiring you!
Stay tuned for many more posts on the Scrapberry's blog!
In July all design team members will start to show their work with you on this blog.

Also follow or blog on Google+ (see sidebar) or follow Scrapberry's on Facebook.

Garden Fable canvas set- Live With Prima

A couple of days ago, I created this set of 6x6 canvases on the Live With Prima Ustream channel.
I loved the printed bird houses on the new Garden Fable collection by Prima!

For this trio of canvases, I hand cut the houses and adorned them with various embellishments. How sweet would these look in a little girl's room?

Here is the video recording in case you missed it:
I also have it uploaded to my YouTube channel if you need to find it (press the link on my side bar)

Try Ustream Pro!

I actually made the same project but changed the green colours to blue.
Here is the project with the blue Hues

I'm giving it away to my sister to hang up in my niece's room as the colours match perfectly with her room.

Finally I want to show you each canvas separately so you can really see the details below:

I used different resin birds on each canvas. Each bird belongs to a different era of Prima collections and I thought it would be perfect to represent the change in trends.
