Raindrops- 7 Dots April Challenge

The new challenge at 7 Dots Studio is up on the blog. This month the inspirational challenge is drawn from the quote:

"April showers bring May Flowers"

This quote is a typical April saying and that's why it fits perfectly for the project I created below:

Seeing raindrops on my car window in the winter gives me hope that spring is just around the corner. This picture was taken on one of these very cold winter days as snow was melting on the glass.

I used the cold country collection to create this wet and rainy layout along with lots of mixed media textured techniques.

The rules of the challenge are simple:
- create any project inspired by our theme
- use at least one 7 Dots Studio product
- publish your project on you blog with a link to our challenge
- do not forget to include in your blog post our "inspirational circle

The Book Of Gratitude #1- Blue Fern Studios DT

This month I created two Blue Fern Studio projects that are very near and dear to my heart. I created them for two very special people in my life. Both these people asked me to create Gratitude Journals for them and I thought it would be great to include some Blue Fern Studio Chipboard on the front cover.

Here is the first journal I created. Come back in a few days to see the other one.

I bought this hard cover journal at the dollar store. Then, using some of the Blue Fern Garden papers I covered both front and back. To blend the paper seam to the cover's background I used light moulding paste and a brick stencil.

I used the tree from the Descanso Garden Set, a little bird and one of the Veranda cages. I have a tutorial below describing how I created the tree. The bird was painted in silks glaze paint and the bird cage in brown fluid chalk ink.

Here is a little tutorial on how I created the chipboard tree:

Materials:
Papers: Blue Fern Garden
Journal: Dollar Store
Chipboard: Blue Fern Studios
Flowers: Prima
Brick Stencil: The Crafters Workshop
Tim Holtz Distress inks
Ranger crackle accents gel

I've said this before but would like to say it again. I'm so very grateful to all of you coming to visit my blog!!
Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart!!

Sweet Dream- Blue Fern Studios Reveal Part 1

Its my turn again on the Blue Fern Studios blog and I'm featuring this soft pastel layout of this sweet baby.

I stencilled the background using a new Prima stencil and Tutti Frutti Dazzlerz from Shimmerz.

I framed the photo in one of the Ever After frames from Blue Fern Studios. After Priming it with Gesso, I painted it with Sky Blue Shimmerz paint to match the Blue Fern Garden papers. Thats why the frame is so shimmery.

I applied the same paint to the Frilly Heart chipboard and tucked it behind the photo.

The "Sweet" Title from the Valetine Word set was simply coloured in blue chalk ink From Prima. The flowers, resins and metals are also of course Prima.

Jewelry Chest of Drawers OTP- Flying Unicorn April Kit

This month's Flying Unicorn Kit contains a chest of drawers OTP.
I used the Princess collection from Prima to cover the chest.

To decorate the chest I glued a piece of chipboard to the back of the chest and then glued the fairies, flowers and resins.

I also decorated the top of the chest with more flowers and Prima embellishments.

I made this chest of drawers for my daughter. She loved it so much and loved putting all her jewelry in it. It looks so beautiful in her room and fits the decor beautifully!!!

Selfie- Shimmerz April Project

Welcome to another colourful month with Shimmerz.
I just love the bright, colourful and shimmery look of the Shimmerz Products.

To start the background, I used some Dreamsicle Dazzlerz paint to mask the chevron pattern down the page. Once dry, I sprayed some Chikadee yellow over some of the background.

I used some Mandarin Mai Tai and Bamboo Leaf to make paint splatters in the background. I simply removed the nozzle from the top and just randomly splattered ink directly from the bottle. The more ink fell, the larger the splatters became.

The chipboard circles wer painted in both Peas Be Mine and Green with Envy after being primed with gesso.

Remember to join in the Shimmerz Facebook Challenge during April for your chance to win even more Shimmerz!!!

and.... if you want to order from the Shimmerz Store, you should mention my name. You will then get a free Shimmerz product.

Have a wonderful day!!
