Inspirational Layour- GDT for Scrap Africa

As a winner of the Scrap Africa Challenge last month I was invited as a GDT for their inspirational Challenge. The inspirational picture is below. I used the quote and elaborated with the colors and crayons. This layout came out different than my usual. Very different!! at first I wasn't sure if I liked it but it grew on me and now I love it.
I took this picture of my kids holding these large crayons in NY. I used a real crayon box and lots of distress stains and embellies. The papers are all from WP.
I also used the Scrap Friends sketch as inspiration which is below.

Scrap That!'s September Kit in more Detail

I'm here to showcase my creations with the Victorian Dream September kit from Scrap That! I've already shown you my tutorial last week on how to make that beautiful dress for the Dusty Attic Dress Form. Today I'm showcasing my layouts in more detail.

I also want to announce that September is my last month with Scrap That!. These past 6 months have been amazing and I enjoyed creating with these kits and meeting new people. Its been a blast!!

Here is the layout I made using the sketch for the monthly challenge. If you want to participate click here

This layout was made predominantly with he main kit. I made my own flowers out of paper. I used the crystal leaves from the EAO and I added a black feather and a chipboard title from my own stash. I also used gesso and black paint to give the layout some texture.

Here is my second layout. I used a baby picture of my daughter. I fussy cut the clocks and the flowers and added them to the layout. I made my own textured background with fiber paste and paint. All the products are from the main kit except the Prima flower from the EAO.

For my third layout I use a picture of myself!! I layered lots of cut-out papers over some dripping textured paint.
All of the products are from the main kit except the flower and branches.

I hope you enjoyed my layouts. Enjoy the rest of the week!!!

A Rich Hi{story}- DT Reveal for Bird is the word

THIS IS MY SECOND POST TODAY SO PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR THE BERRY71BLEU REVEAL

I can't believe its been a year since I've joined Bird is the Word. I truly love this challenge site and love working with so many talented designers and friends. I don't know what it is but I've always loved "words" so its no surprise that I love a challenge with words in it. I love playing Boggle, Scrabble and other word puzzles. The only thing I'm not good at is crossword puzzles. Those are hard.

Here is my reveal for Bird is the word  using the word "STORY". I stretched my limit with this word because I used the word History which has the word Story in it. History is made up of stories from the past, hence the name. So I thought it fit the theme.

I used a picture we recently took on our trip to Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia. This lighthouse is very famous and has many historical facts and stories written about it. It has "a rich history". One of the most famous stories involves the Titanic but there are stories of plane crashes and sinking ships. It has stories about survival and drowning.

I used A LOT of Webster's pages products from the Yacht Club collection and other embellishments. I don't know why but I can't make WP layouts simple and clean. I start cutting up the images and add more and more to the page. Its as if I'm never satisfied. WP collections are perfect for creating magical scenes on the page and that's what I try to do. I used lots of nautical elements and combined them with flowers to set the scene.

I made this layout for the monthly challenge at the WP blog. Its called a trendy challenge and we must use at least one of the trends shown on the blog. I used 4 of those trends. First I made those cool feathered leaves seen below. Then I used a chicken wire mask to decorate the compass with gesso and paint. And if you notice, my background paper has hexagons on it.

Since my layout was so full, I didn't have room to journal on it. However the back of the hexagon paper is so beautiful, I was able to write so much information about our trip.

Wells that's all Folks!!
hope to see you soon on my blog again!!
have a fantastic day!

For my giveaway post please scroll down!!
Do you believe in Magic?

Here is my layout this month using Berry71Bleu's Tag.
We were very lucky this month to have Studio 75 Sponsor our Design Team and sponsor our challenge. If you participate in our challenge you have a chance to win products from Studio 75.

I was sent some beautiful papers and chipboard from Studio 75 and this is the layout I made.

I used this beautiful picture of my kids holding Tinkerbell in their hand.
She appears by magic after you take the picture. They always love this effect!!!

I added that beautiful 2 Crafty chipboard Fairy. I covered it in black gesso and then I colored it with pan pastels.

I used a Crafter's Workshop leaf stencil to create the background. I spread fiber paste on the stencil and then inked it with different matching colored inks.

I used lots of flower embellishments to create a fairy looking garden. I think I succeeded!!

I also incorporated in this layout an inspirational challenge at Get Creative
Here is the inspirational picture

I really liked this girly themed bedroom. I was inspired by the colors especially the purple but mostly by the girly atmosphere; its almost magical!!

NOW LAST BUT NOT LEAST I WANT TO DRAW ATTENTION TO A TRUE INSPIRING GIVEAWAY
In this giveaway you don't actually get a prize but you get to GIVEAWAY some of your stash to an amazing cause

I recently stumbled upon an amazing blog (thanks for my good friend Helen). Diana, who lives in Jamaica started an outreach Scrapbooking program to help young girls express themselves through scrapbooking.

Who knew that SCRAPBOOKING can really MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Who wouldn't want to be a part of that?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

READ WHAT DIANA HAS TO SAYHi, I'm Diana, formerly a "lonely scrapbooker" from Jamaica, but now I'm "scrapbooking from the heart"--following my passion and spreading the scrapbooking love here in Jamaica.   One of the ways I feed my passion and spread the love is through "outreach scrapbooking" where I scrapbook with tween and teen girls who are living in girls' homes. They are in state custody and have been removed from their homes for their safety because they have been abused or have suffered some type of trauma.

I go with a couple of other scrapbookers, take photos of the girls, print them on the spot and we do scrapbook pages with positive messages. I take all the tools and supplies. All of the supplies are my own that I am no longer using, or are donated by other scrapbookers.  I am now collecting any and all supplies and tools that anyone is willing to mail to me in Jamaica. If you mark the package "used craft supplies" I shouldn't get charged any customs duty.

I have quite a bit of paper, and 12x12 paper is expensive and heavy to mail, so if you have alphabets (half-used packs are fine), and embellishments of all sorts (out of fashion, partially used packs), you can stick them in a regular large letter sized envelope, and I will use them with the girls. Any and everything will be greatly appreciated and used up with lots of love.

I blogged about my outreach scrapbooking recently here and also answered some of Helen's own questions about it here. The first post also has links to the origins of this whole project. I also post links about outreach scrapbooking and scrapbooking in general on my facebook page

Please email me at artemis.jamaica@gmail.com if you would like to send me stuff so I can send you my mailing address and also if you have any more questions.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I encourage you to gather up some leftover embellishments and send them in a small packet to Jamaica. I ended up collecting 4 Packets and will send them on Monday

I hope this post was not too long and it enlightened you to Give from the Heart

Have a fantastic day!!
