Inspiration - Scrap For Help

Here is my Scrap For Help reveal.
The material to use for September is Jeans.
I was lucky to get a blue jeans flower in one of my Cest Magnifique's kit a few months back and I finally found some use for it. I was not sure how to use it because of its size and color but I combined it with the "Wonderful" papers from 7 Dots Studio (which also came in that kit ) and made this layout.

I used Septembers Sketch of the month at Ces't Magnifique as inspiration.

Materials Used
Papers 7 Dots Studio Wonderland
Flowers: Prima, Recollections, canvas denim flower by home basics
Petaloo branches
K&Co embellishments
Prima blue chalk ink

Hope you have a wonderful day!!

Dress Tutorial

For the Creative Scrappers Blog Hop please scroll down

For my giveaway press on the Right hand side bar

For the Scrap That! September Tutorial  I used the beautiful Dusty Attic Wire Dress Form from the main kit and designed a beautiful dress using the Graphic 45 Papers

Punch a strip along the edge of your paper. I used this Martha Stewart's punch but any punch will do.

The Strip should be 1 1/4 inches. You may need 2-3 strips

Ink the edges of the paper in a matching color.

Cut the paper strip long enough so when you wrap it around the bottom of the dress form it will connect in the back. I used scotch tape to stick the two ends together.

Continue adding strips to make ruffles for the dress

Make sure that the Strips are evenly spread.

Using the other side of the paper, make the top of the dress and wrap it around. Make sure that the punched edge is facing up. You may choose a piece of the strip with a design on it. I chose a piece with  a printed flower. Don't worry about the seam as you will be adding  a bow.

Make a bow around the waist.

Then I glued a small flower and 2 small feathers in the centre.

Finally using a pearl pen I added small pearls to decorate.

Here is a back view. Although not very flattering, nobody will see it.

Final Project

You can add this dress to a page or project. I chose to decorate my Scrap Room with it. I hang it on a drawer near my desk.

I'm so glad you stopped by today

Lots of activity on my blog this weekend although its all pre-scheduled. Its our last weekend of the summer before the kids go back to school. I feel bittersweet about it!!. On one hand I've had a blast with them this whole summer, however I am ready for them to start school, to start their routine and to have some "ME" time. I've been missing myself lately and it even shows on every one's blog. I've been trying to keep up with comments but with the kids around its not always easy.

We are having some gorgeous weather this weekend and yesterday we went to the beach. Today I'm having a picnic at another beach. Well its a lake beach since we don't actually have the ocean near us. I'm inland. We are trying to soak up the last rays of summer!!

My kids are also starting new adventures this year. My daughter is starting grade 1 and my son is going into grade 6 which is middle school here. He even got a locker and has to rotate between classes like in high school. Its a big change for both of them and we are all excited.

I hope you are enjoying yourselves wherever you are.

City Skyline- GDT for White With 1

For the Scrap That! Blog hop scroll to the next post

Good morning every one!! Well for some of you it might be good afternoon or good night!! What's important is the GOOD!!

I have a new layout to share with you today!!

I was thrilled to win a feature at White With 1 last month. I was also very happy that they invited me to play in September with them as a Guest Designer!!

The challenge is as follows:

you must use WHITE+ BLACK+ ORANGE

(no other colors should be on your layout)

Taking inspiration from my recent seminar with Finn I created this really grungy layout using only those 3 colors.

One of my favourite things I did was doodling the skyline in black ink to imitate the photo!! not sure what you think but I love it!!

this picture was taken above the CN tower overlooking downtown Toronto!

Here is the result of my efforts!!

I dug into my junk box yet again and found lots of yummy treasures to add to this layout!!

Here you can see the doodled skyline better

I also like the dripping and the stamping on this layout!!

Materials used
White Cardstock
Prima Canvas resist flowers
masking tape- tan and black
metal and wooden trinkets, chipboard, buttons, etc
Glitz Design Stamp
Black Archival Ink
Recollections Alpha stickers
Maya road orange mist
Tattered angels orange mist
