Design teams seem to be an evolving, fun loving and creative group of people.  Over the course of time that design team members are with me and Bird is the Word, we develop great friendships and I feel so lucky to get to know so many beautiful, warm people from all over the world.

Today, I am thrilled to say we are looking for additional design team members.  Bird is the Word has changed...only a bit in the last couple of weeks and we are looking for new members to join our group.

I Love Your Smile

I thought it was so cute when you took one of my scraps that I had cut into a frame and used it to frame your own face in it. You wrote on it " Amazing Picture" with arrow pointing towards your face and then you gave me this big huge smile. I love your personality. You have a great sense of humor and I hope it always stays that way.

I'm using this layout for my reveal at Bird is the Word: The word to use is SMILE. I have used this word a lot in my layouts but it was so easy to use it again. Bird is the word is taking a break for the month of May so this is the last word until June so Wendy can revamp the blog.

The sketch I used was the May sketch from Dusty Attic. I used these fantastic 7 Dots Studio papers along with some Dusty Attic flourishes that I painted with moulding paste and then sprayed with different inks. I love 7 Dots papers they are so easy to work with. First I was scared to use them as I would never be able to compare myself with Finnabair, however I'm glad my layouts came out similar to my style and I'm extremely satisfied on how they turned out.

You Belong among the Fairies

I was really excited when I found out that Scrap That (the kit club I design for) teamed up with The Color room and gave us a chance to be featured this month. The Color Room created a special edition Palette for Scrap That. It will run along with the regular palettes in May and it includes a sketch and the beautiful colors found on the Nature Garden papers from Prima.
I used the sketch to design this layout about my daughter. After adding all the elements, I added a crown of flowers on her head.
I love these Prima papers. They remind me of a fairy garden and they are so beautiful.

Here is what I created.

Find your way in this world

I made this layout for my Scrap for Help reveal using these amazingly beautiful papers from 7 Dots Studios: "Wonderland" which are part of the Kit from Ces't Magnifique. This month recycled item to use at SFH is "Old Envelopes". I cut a small old manila envelope that I found in a bag of letters and cards that my grandmother collected over the years. As you may know, my grandmother passed away this past December and we were very close. She was quite an organized and sentimental woman and she kept things from her whole life including all the cards people gave her, and all the letters we wrote to her as kids when we lived far apart. I took one of the envelopes from this pile and used it for my layout. I ripped it in half and placed it at the bottom of my layout under the birdcage. I left the side open so I can add journaling in it.

I used the sketch Nadia provided for the Ces't Magnifique challenge . These papers are exquisit Finnabair did such a good job on these papers, they are absolutely fantastic.

I loosely covered the envelope in gesso. I added molding paste to the birdcage and then inked it with Tattered angel's spray. Finally I used a Studio Multi-medium to paste flowers on the paper and add dimension. Then I added all the other elements.
