Create

For my Giveaway press  here
This layout I made just for fun using Sketch #180 from Skissedilla

This is a picture of my son making huge bubbles out of soap using nothing but his hands. I thought it was ingenious and I ran to get the camera. He blew these humongous soap bubbles while he was in the shower. I was really impressed.

This layout made me feel like there's an explosion of color. Its as if that bubble burst and color just gushed onto the page. What I realized with my artwork lately is that I like to transport myself and others into the layout and make it come to life.
I don't know if that makes sense but that's how my layouts have been designed lately.

I used these amazing Prima wooden doors. I loved them from the first time I saw them but I couldn't find the right layout to use them for. I also used 2 Crafty chipboard. The large filmstrip was a leftover piece from another layout and the mini ones are from 2 Crafty's new collection. I simply sprayed the filmstrips in black ink.

I love, love, love these light bulb trinkets from Prima. I chose the word create because that's exactly what my son was doing while creating this enormous bubble with his own hands.

Finally I want to talk about all the mixed media mediums I used. First I stuck some black masking tape on the page. Then I spread crackle paste on the whole area. With my finger, I spread glass bead medium (my new fave). After that I sprayed 3 different inks at the corner edge and let them drip. Finally I randomly added some glossy accent gel and threw micro-beads on it.

Here is the Skissedilla layout that Inspired me!!

Materials Used
Bazzil White Cardstock
Black Masking Tape
Prima Flowers
Prima light bulb create
Prima wooden doors
2 Crafty chipboard: Filmstrips
Micro beads: green and orange: Dollar store
Golden Glass Bead gel
Golden Crackle paste
Ranger Glossy Accents gel
Adirondack Ink spray: Butterscotch, Orange, Red Pepper
Tattered Angels crushed shells spray
Tim Holtz fan flower die-cut

Fall- Bird is the Word

For my Giveaway press here

With the leaves changing comes a beautiful season!! I do love Fall even if it means winter is coming!! I love the bright earthy tones. They make me feel grounded.

The following layout I made for the Bird is the Word challenge. The word to use is either:" Summer, Fall/Autumn, Winter or Spring"

Well I have to say that the selection and the posibilities are endless.

I made this layout using a background scrap paper that I had used in my previous layout (post below) as a spray shield.

When I make a layout with a lot of mixed media sprays, I use a pizza box for spraying. However I always put a white paper in the background and spray on it too.

This is the second time that I've used a sprayed background scrap for a layout and I must say that the results are astounding.

I used the Wood Grain mask from Crafter's Workshop and masked over the background paper some Coarse Alumina Paste. Once it dried, it's brownish coarse texture made it look like actual wood.

This amazing tree is the Winter Tree from 2 Crafty. I inked it in orange fluid chalk ink from Prima and then I covered it in Glass Bead paste which is my new favourite medium. You can check out my other layout using this medium here.

Winter Tree (unit of 3)

I used lots of orange and brown flowers and I cut out the leaves from the new 7 Dots Paper: Domestic Goddess.

Materials Used
Papers: 7 Dots Studios Domestic Goddess, Prima Craftsman
Flowers: Prima, Recollections, Petaloo, Manorhouse Creations
Alpha: Creative Imaginations
Chipboard Tree: 2 Crafty
Crafter's Workshop Wood Grain mask
Coars Alumina paste by Golden
Glass bead gel by Golden
Prima fluid chalk: Dark Bark and Fall Leaf
Adirondack ink spray: Butterscotch, Orange and Red Pepper

Hope you enjoyed my layout today
Have a great week!!

October's 2 Crafty Reveal

I'm happy to say that its my turn again to showcase my work on the 2 Crafty blog and I had so much fun this month.

"IMAGINE"

First I want to talk about this picture. It really looks as if my kids are in a magical forest!! Its one of the most favourite pictures I've ever taken and I wanted to scrap it using some earth toned colors. I used the Domestic Goddess collection from 7 Dots Studio because it has rich earthy tones.

One of the things I love doing is experimenting with new products. I went to my local art supply store and found these 2 really amazing textured pastes.
The first one you can see it in the next 2 pictures. I cut the 11" Flourish Frame in half and covered it with Coarse Alumina Paste. It gave it a dark and rough look. While the paste was still wet, I sprayed it with 3 different colored mists: Adirondack Butterscotch, Adirondack Red Pepper and Dyllusions Espresso.

11" Round Flourish Frame (unit of 3)

The second paste I bought is actually my favorite. I used it on these Oriental Flower Stems. I used both stems that come in the package and I cut and spread them in the page. The paste I added is Glass Bead Gel. Its a clear gel with actual glass beads inside. I spread it roughly over the chipboard and while wet, sprayed them in different places with the same mist colors.

I was ecstatic with the result. You can see the glass effect above. I actually love it and can't wait to use it on my next layout.

One message I can give to the 2 Crafty readers is that Experimenting is Good!! if you don't try new things you will miss out on some amazing creativity!

Oriental Flower Stems (units of 3)

Finally I used the word "Imagine" for the title. I took it from the ATC words 1 pack. These words are small and perfectly fit in any layout. They are meant for ATCs however I thought they were so handy. I always add my title last and sometimes I don't have space for it. These words are small enough that they can fit anywhere on your page and you get so many in the pack.

ATC Words 1 (units of 3)

Materials Used:
Papers: 7 Dots Studio, Glitz Design
Flowers: Prima, Green Tara
Chipboard: 2 Crafty
Miscellaneous: feather, large flower: unknown
Butterfly: dollar store
embellishments: K&Co
Golden Coarse Alumina
Golden Glass Bead Gel
Adirondack spray: Butterscotch, Red pepper
Dyllusions Spray inkL: Expresso
Prima Fluid Chalk: dark bark

"PLAY"

My Second Project for this month is another nature scene. This time its set in the lake while my daughter was fishing for some minnows. She spent hours chasing them in the water and when she caught one, she would put it in her bucket.

I used 2 different chipboard pieces for the flower cluster. First I used the doilies which I dabbed in yellow acrylic paint and then added some distressed stickles on it.

Doilies (unit of 3)

Secondly I used the Winter Leaves (which is ironic as I used them for a summer laout). I have a simple tutorial below on how I made the textured leaves.

Finally I used the word "Play" out of the
Summertime word pack.

Summertime (units of 3)

For this layout, I got inspired by a picture from a challenge over at the BoBunny Blog: I mainly got inspired from the bright colors and the flowers. I love using flowers on my layouts.

The challenge also required you to use at least 1 tag and 2 photos. I have my tag hidden behind the photos for journaling purposes.

Materials Used:
Papers: BoBunny
Flowers: Recollections, Prima
Chipboard: 2 Crafty
Distress Stickles: green and tattered rose
Acrylic paint dabber: Yellow, espresso and Green
Lorelei Leaf die cut by Memory box
Butterflies: Prima
ribbon: Walmart
bird and flower embellishment: K&Co

Leaf Tutorial:
using the Winter Leaves

1. I used 4 leaves out of this package.
Winter Leaves (unit of 3)

2. I painted the leaves in green paint (I apologize for the blurriness as I took these photos at night)

3. I squirted some Green Distress Stickles on the leaf

4. Using a paint brush, I roughly spread the Stickles unevenly on the leaf.
Then I let it dry.

I hope you enjoyed all my creations today!

Have a fantastic life!!

Pencil Holder

For my giveaway press here

I made this off the page project a few months back for my Scrap For Help assignment. Then a few weeks later it got published and I was never able to post it until now.

Its a pencil holder using the Weekend Market collection from BoBunny.

I used this manly collection to decorate a pencil holder for my son's room. I wanted it to have lots of blues and browns to match my son's room.

This is a wooden pencil holder I got at the dollar store

Hope you had a great Weekend!!
