Thanks and Gratitude- Prima Feature with Gelli-Art plates

For my holiday giveaway press here

<<<<<<>>>>>>>
For Americans, today its Thanksgiving and although I'm Canadian I can't pass up any opportunity that gives you the chance to say thanks. I always give thanks to God for my health and gratitude to all that he has blessed me with.
I'm thankful to my family and friends (and that includes all my friends near and far).
Thank you for making my life beautiful!!

I also wanted to wish all my Jewish friends a Happy Chanukah!! Its the first day of Chanukah today. We celebrate the holiday of lights, the holiday of miracles. Chanukah reminds us that there are miracles in our lives every single day!!

<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>

Here is the thanksgiving card I made for the Thanksgiving Feature at Prima.

We were asked to use our Gelli-art plates to create the background of today's Prima projects.
I used real leaves that I collected from the ground to mask atop the Gelli-art plate after I had added the paint. The first layer was yellow and I used maple leaves. Then I painted in orange and masked the other autumn leaves I had collected.

Prima Products:
548841- Corine Flowers
569907- Wppd embellishments
564629- Metal paper clips
558925- Welcome to Paris chipboard stickers
562984- Sunrise Sunset Canvas Alphabet Stickers
570491- Circle stitched cling stamp
890995- Fluid chalk edger black coal
960148- Sunrise Sunset clear acrylic stamp #4

other products: gesso, Golden paint, Gelli-art plate, leaves

<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>

To create the background of this layout, I used the ghost image imprinted by my Gelli-art plate after using the leaves on the card above. I toned down the background with a bit of watered down gesso. I even incorporated two of my maple leaves in my layout as a layer behind the photo

This is a photo of my daughter taken recently while she was throwing leaves in the forest. I'm so grateful for happy moments like this one. She was so care free, throwing leaves into the cold crisp air.

I just love the Ingvild Bolme embellishments. The little deer was perfect for this forest scene.

In these two photos you can see both the Gelli-art ghost imprint of the leaves and the actual leaf itself.

Happy Chanukah- A personal post

For my holiday giveaway press here

Happy Chanukah to all my Jewish friends!! Tonight we light the first candle of Chanukah.

This is a long and personal post so please read only if you want:

Chanukah is my favorite Jewish Holiday for many different reasons and I just wanted to share some of my heritage and traditions here on my blog too. However since I schedule most of my posts, I had written this one long ago and things changed since then. So I'm sharing my traditions but I'm also sharing something a bit more personal and sad below.

These are my favorite Chanukah Traditions:

1. Getting together with family and lighting the Chanukiah's  (menorah) candles to remember the miracles of Chanukah.

2. Eating Sufganiot (jelly filled doughnuts that are just so delicious, better than any other) and latkes. Yum Yum

3. Playing spin the dreidle with my kids.

4. singing Chanukah songs and remembering to believe in miracles!!

I'm usually not one to share a lot of personal stuff on my blog or Facebook. However I understand how it is actually quite therapeutic to write about how you feel and send it out there. So here I am pouring my heart out today because truly I don't know what else to do. I just feel it is really important that I write this today not only for me, but for those who are going through something that is affecting your life. I want to reassure you that you have my love and light shining upon you and that you are never alone.
This morning when I woke up I found out that my last grandmother had passed away. She had been sick for the past few months, so we knew it was coming. Its hard to explain what I feel. I wasn't really close to her although she was present all throughout my life. However, I have an overwhelming sense of loss. Its not a loss of a person but its the loss of a whole generation. This was the generation that suffered so much and worked so hard to make an imprint in this world. This was a generation that we were told as kids to always remember because they went through so much in their lives.

I feel sadness for my parents who now don't have their parents anymore. I know how close I am to my parents and how much they support and love means to me and it is heartbreaking for me that my parents won't have that from now on.
This month I'm also saddened by all the people who are suffering around me. My heart fills with sadness and hopes for miracles for them.
Chanukah is the holiday of miracles and I pray and hope that all of you who need a beacon of light to  light up your way feel the love and light I'm sending you right now. You all know who you are as I don't want to mention any names. Even those who don't know me but I hear of your sadness and loss, I'm praying for you too.
Generations come and generations go. This year my sister had a baby girl. She was named after my other grandmother who passed away 2 years ago. Now this grandmother passed away and I can really see how the circle of life evolves.
I was told something very beautiful about why we light candles. A candle is like a person's body and the flame is the soul. You light up a candle because without a flame it is just wax. Without a soul a body is just a body. A candle light is eternal and so is the soul and so we light candles to remind us that the soul is eternal.
I am praying and hoping that anyone who reads my post here or on Facebook knows how much I love them. It is the love of one human being to another. the love of one soul to another.
May all my grandparents rest in peace. Each couple together at last watching over us.
I want to bless us all, that we may never know suffering and may we always have health and happiness throughout your lives. Amen.

I created this tag for the Prima ArtZine last month.

I used the "All about me" collection to create it. I cut the blue chevron paper in the shape of a Menorah and then cut out the blue drops from the raindrop paper to create the flame. I decorated the tag with blue flowers and then added some yellow Shimmerz paint behind the flames to make them glow

Sweet You- Sassy Scrappers November GD

Here is another LO I created for my Sassy Scrappers GD this month. I also used the Color Wash collection from Pink Paislee along with some matching embellishments and Prima flowers.

I'm truly in love with this color wash collection I'm not sure if its the pastel colors, or the geometrical patterns but I just really love the softness and playfulness of my layouts.

I painted the Pink Paislee tag with some gelatos to match the pastel feel of the page.

I truly love this picture of my daughter. It depicts her personality to a tee. She's so carefree and loves life!! She was so happy to throw leaves in the air. As you can see she's in shorts even though there are autumn leaves outside. We had a very mild autumn and even had some hot days we could go out in summer clothes.
I guess the sun was behind me as you can she my shadow on the side as I'm taking the picture. LOL

The One And Only You- 7 Dots GD at TCR

Some of the Design Team members at 7 Dots Studios are playing this month as GD's at The Color Room and there's a special palette just for us. Palette #164 and its filled with beautiful colors from some of the 7 Dots collections.

I created a circular pattern with the Crafters Workshop mask and with the "Dreamer" paper. Then I used some Shimmerz mists and some Twinkling H2O's to create drips down the page.

I just love this picture of my daughter. She's holding her mouth tight to stop herself from laughing. She has such a happy and giggly personality, she's always laughing and I guess she was trying to keep a straight face!!

I added little word stickers around the page. The words describe my daughter and her personality.

Of course I used Prima flowers and embellies to decorate the page.

Materials:
7 Dots Studio: Dreamer : Drive all night
7 Dots Studio: Dreamer stickers
7 Dots Studio: 9th Wave
Prima Flowers: Interlude, Le Mia

You are always in my heart- 2 Crafty Reveal part 2

This is my second layout for my November Reveal at 2 Crafty Chipboard.

Well, I know what you might say. I went very simple this month with my 2 Crafty Reveal. However I really wanted to showcase the chipboard in a simpler manner than usual to reach out to those of you who still hesitate to dabble in the Mixed Media world.

I wanted to create a motherly feel to this layout using lots of bird themed embellishments. I used this Kaisercraft die-cut to create the background and then decorated with Prima flowers and embellishments.
I really love this picture of my son and I and I framed it in this Maggie Holmes canvas frame.

I used the following 2 Crafty chipboard pieces:
Twiggy Nests with eggs: These are just so adorable. You can see them on the photo above. I inked the nest in brown and the eggs in cream.
Tree with Sparrows: I love this tree and I inked the branches in brown and the sparrows in creamy ink.
Clock Faces: I also inked them in brown and tucked them under the flowers.

Materials:
Coordinations white card stock
Papers: Kaisercraft, Prima
2 Crafty Chipboard
Frame: Maggie Holmes
Prima: flowers, leaves and resin
Die cuts: Kaisercraft
Prima Fluid chalk edgers: dark park, sand
Pearls: unknown
Golden gesso
Cheese cloth
Alpha: Prima, Heidi Swapp

Thank you so much for visiting me today
have a fabulous day!!
