Wonderful Beginnings- My Prima PPP for October's ArtZine

This is my layout for this past's month "My Prima Place" ArtZine for Prima.

I created this Autumn layout for the October PPP which was filled with all these beautiful colors.

You still have a couple of days to play in the Prima PPP. here is the link below:

http://prima.typepad.com/prima/2013/10/octobers-ppp.html

This is my daughter posing in front of our neighbourhood's forest last fall. I just love the bright, rich colours that you see on the trees.

I created an intricate background using one of the brick stencils from the new Prima masks. I used lots of Shimmerz sprays and paints to match the colors of the trees in my photo.

I also used many different types of Prima stamps to create texture and interest on the page.

Tea Box- Featuring the Delight collection by Jodie-Lee Designs

This was one of my projects for Prima for Summer CHA that I never got to share on my blog.

I found this tea box at the dollar store and decorated it using the beautiful Delight collection which was truly perfect for the theme.

Although I like my coffee when I'm tired and sluggish, I usually prefer tea. I especially love loose leaf tea and I love steeping it myself. I buy many different flavours of tea and drink them depending on my mood.

SP Delight

I cut out images from the Delight papers and glued them with Matte Gel Medium on the sides of the box. I embellished the lid both inside and out with Prima flowers.

I also used the Elemental Doily mask to create more texture on the box.

Sweetie Pie, Oh So Sweet--Frugal Friday with Prima

So I took upon a challenge to create for the Prima Frugal Friday post. Its not that I shy away from frugal. On the contrary, I wish I would spend less money on a layout. However I have a small addiction to Prima flowers and I believe I share this addiction with many friends on bloggy land!!

So when I signed up for frugal friday, I was sure I wouldn't be able to spend $5 dollars or less unless I made a card or a tag. However I took the challenge seriously and miraculously not only did I spend less than $5 dollars, I also wrote down some tips on how to be more frugal when creating layouts.

This is my layout using the Anna Marie collection. I've added a step by step tutorial so you can see I was truly frugal. I can't believe it myself as this layout looks more expensive than it is. LOL!!

Here are some close-ups and below are the products and their cost.

Supplies:
846336- Anna Marie Collection: Calico
846305- Anna Marie Collection: Anna Marie
846329- Anna Marie Collection: Sewing basket
846299- Anna Marie Collection: Eloise
570033- Anna Marie Collection: Chipboard
563035- Anna Marie Collection: tickets
569921- Wood Icons: Birds and Butterflies
563882- Wood Icons: Leaves and flowers
571528- Le Mia- cotton candy flowers
562984- Sunrise Sunset Canvas Alphabet stickers
960445- Finnabair mask

other products: Golden Light Molding paste, cheese cloth

Cost
1 Sheet of Anna Marie Calico paper= $ 0.80
Scraps of paper from the Anna Marie Collection= $ 0.70 (includes Calico, Anna Marie, Eloise and Sewing basket)
1 Anna Marie ticket= $ 0.10
Chipboard title from Anna Marie collection= $ 0.30
2 Sunrise Sunset Letters= $ 0.02
8 Wood Icons= $1.33
6 Le Mia flowers= $ 1.67

for a total of: $4.92

Frugal Tips:
(How to make a layout look expensive yet be frugal in cost)

1. Save your scraps. As you can see, I used lots of scraps from the Anna Marie Collection to build this layout.

2. Buy reusable items like masks and stamps. I used the circled mask here to create an interesting background.

3. Fussy cut elements from your pages to use as layers on your layouts. I fussy cut some flowers and frames to create more layers and volume on this layout.

4. Buy products that contain numerous items like the wood icons or small flowers, that way you can use them over and over again. I used my wood icons and flowers here and I still have so many to spare for another project.

5. Use your packaging. I often use my Prima packaging to create layers in my layout.

6. Create lots of layers on your project. Use foam tape to raise your layers to create depth.

Well, that's all for today!! thanks for coming and visiting me on my blog as I conquer the Frugal challenge!!
Are you up for the challenge?

Have a wonderful day!!

Happy Days- NEW ****DIMENSIONZ**** BY SHIMMERZ

I'm super excited to have received the newest Shimerz's product called Dimensionz and I was happy to get a chance to play with this product on this layout below.

Here is the layout:

The first thing I did was paint inside a spiral stencil in 3 different Dimensionz colours: Blueberry Hill, Green Thumb and Blue Lagoon. I simply squirted some paint on my craft mat and painted inside the stencil using a brush. Once dry, I squirted raised dimensional dots over some of the areas.

I painted the 2 Crafty frame using the Blueberry hill Dimensionz paint.

The 2 Crafty chipboard title "happy" was covered in Blue Lagoon Dimensionz. I was able to achieve a dimensional raised appearance because I applied the paint thickly on the chipboard.

If you want to purchase these new products you can go to the Shimmerz store HERE. Just make sure you mention my name in the "Instructions to Merchant" box during checkout and you will receive a free sample of either Texturez or Dazzlerz.
It's a perfect oportunity to get a hold of some new products and even take advantage of the Shimmerz sale as Stacey is retiring some of the old products!!

Treasures of Love- Sketchbook 365 Sketch Challenge

Its time again to reveal the Sketchbook 365 Sketch Challenge for November. Here is a layout I created using Maja Designs papers.

Here is the sketch below:

To begin with, I tore a couple of pages from a book and glued them to the page using gel medium. You can see bits and pieces of them below but most of it was covered by the design.

I used a brick mask to create some texture on the page. I sprayed them Shimmerz 4 Leaf clover and enhanced it with Teal Shimmerz paint. Finally I outlined them in brown marker.

I also used Shimmerz MudPie spray to tint the background layers brown. It gave them a nice vintage feel.

I love this picture of my kids and I couldn't help myself but to decorate it with beautiful Prima flowers and embellishments.

Materials:
Papers: Maja Designs
Flowers: Prima
Chipboard Stickers: K & Company
Light Bulb: Prima

The Age of Innocence- 13 Arts DT and a Farewell!!

Hi Everyone!!

I'm here today to show you my last layout as a 13 Arts DT member.
I've had a wonderful time designing with these amazing papers and mixed media products and I am grateful for the amazing opportunity Aida gave me at the beginning of this year.
Thank you so much Aida for believing in me and in my work!!

As a background, I used the paper "Natural Beauty" from the Faces of Spring collection.
Then I created the leaf vines using 13 Arts Molding paste. I used a leftover chipboard template and smeared the paste impasto around the page. Since the chipboard area was deep, it created a thick 3D looking vine.

Once it was dry, I sprayed 3 different 13 Arts Sprays (listed below) and let them drip down the page.

Then I framed the photo and decorated it with 13 Arts and Prima flowers.

Finally I highlighted the leafy vines using a fine tip black pen.

13 Arts Products used:
Ayeeda Molding Paste
Ayeeda Primer
Turquoise Chalk spray
Pearl sky blue spray
Celadon Chalk spray
Mini white flowers
white stems
bunched stems

Other products:
Flowers: Prima
Black Packaging: Prima
Frame: Maggie Holmes
Alpha: Websters Pages
Black fine pen

You & Me- 2 Crafty October Reveal

It feels like its been a while since I've posted on the 2 Crafty blog and yet another month is upon us and I'm really happy to be part of this amazing team!!

This is a bright, colorful page of my daughter and I. I used lots of different mediums and textures to create it!!
I used Glass bead gel, Gesso, White opaque flakes and of course Shimmerz sprays and paints.

I truly love the beautiful deep, rich colors of the Shimmerz paints they compliment the Prima flowers so well.
If you would like to order some Shimmerz for you to use press HERE and...... if you want to get yourself a free product,  just mention my name in the "Instructions to Merchant" box during checkout and you will receive a free sample of either Dazzlers or Texturez. As I said before, it doesn't get better than that!!

As you can see, I used 2 Crafty's Tiny leaf Stems right in between the flowers. I simply inked them in black fluid chalk.

I also used two types of 2 Crafty frames on this layout. However, I didn't use them to frame a picture, rather I used them to create my layered background. I cut the large postage stamp frame and spread it on two opposite ends of the page. I also layered with the small postage stamp frame set. I tried to create different textures on each of the frames and inside of them to add interesting details to the layout.
