Whispers- BITW Reveal

Happy New Year everyone!!!

I can't believe that as of tomorrow it will be 2013. For some of you it already is!!
It feels like the turn of the millennium was just yesterday but 13 years have passed!!

This post is bittersweet for me as it is my last reveal for Bird is the Word. I've been with BITW for a year and a half now and I feel its time for me to say goodbye!!
What better time to start anew than with the new year.

Bird is the Word is also Having a Design Team Call and as of February will have one word challenge a month instead of a bi-weekly challenge

The word to use in the challenge today is
WHISPER

My son always likes to whisper things in my ear so his sister won't hear what he's saying. He likes to bug her that way because she's very curious!!

Last time he did that, I told him to hold the pose and I took a picture with my iPhone.

I made a layout and called it Whispers

My journaling says: "I love when you whisper sweet secrets in my ear"

I apologize for the blurriness but when I took this picture I hadn't seen the sun in a while and it came out a bit dark.

I used  BoBunny papers for this layout. I tried to make it more masculine with a feminine touch

The chipboard pieces: Vintage Key, Clock frame and Fob watch are from 2 Crafty. I covered them in crackle paint from and then dabbed them with acrylic paint dabbers

The large burgundy flower is from MHC and the round rosettes are from BoBunny. I dipped them in Acrylic ink: first butterscotch and then brown.

I used the BoBunny LO challenge for December as an inspiration. I tried to find my own inspiration from this picture. I loved the windows on the houses so I cut the windows out of a BoBunny paper

I also incorporated a key into the layout which is the title of this picture and to simulate the large moon I used the clock frame above my picture.

Materials:
Papers: BoBunny
Flowers: MHC, BoBunny
Alpha: BoBunny, Webster's pages
Chipboard: 2 Crafty
Metal trinket: Dollar store
Cameo: Webster's pages
Acrylic paint dabbers: Butterscotch, Sand, Espresso
Ranger crackle paint: antique linen

You Shine- C'est Magnifique January Kit reveal #3

Here is another one of my layouts for C'est Magnifique's January Kit reveal. This is the fourth one I'm revealing!

Come check out my blog on January 1st for January's sketch reveal.

We would love for you to play along!!

With all the beautiful blues in this kit, I really thought it fitting to make a layout about my son. I know a lot of people don't like using flowers for boys. I use flowers for art and in art there's no right or wrong for girls or boys. I really want to encourage people to use flowers in boy's layouts!! simply put why not????

Dream- Ces't Magnifique January Kit reveal Part 2

Here is another layout from the January Kit from Ces't Magnifique

My son was complaining to me that he hasn't been in many of my layouts lately. So to honor his request and to use the blue tones in this fabulous kit, I made a layout just of him. I love the way he posed for me in this picture. He knows exactly what to do when I want to take a picture of him. He knows how obsessed I am about scrapbooking.

I cut out the frames from the Framework paper and used the oval one around the picture. I'm really into frames now and keep on using them on most of my pages lately!!

I used the 12x12 Prima mask Poppies & Peonies and made stems on either side of the picture. Then I added the crystals around them.

Cousins- C'est Magnifique January Kit Reveal

I'm really excited to reveal January's C'est Magnifique Kit Featuring the beautiful "Mother Nature" Collection from Ruby Rock-it

This is a picture of my kids with their cousin. They only have one cousin living close to them and they love him so much. My son called me to the living room so I could take a picture of them. He set the 3 of them up on the floor and asked me to take the picture. I'm so happy they have at least one cousin close by. Its so nice to grow up with family. My cousins never grew up close to me.

I painted the clock in gesso and then covered it in glass bead gel. Finally I sprayed it with blue Tattered Angel's mist. I used it as a frame for the photo. I used the circle insert as a clock. I covered it in gesso and then stamped it with a Prima Stamp.

Winter Wonderland- My 2 Crafty Creations

Winter is my least favourite season but I did love scrapping about it.

Today its officially the first day of winter and we are off to seek warmer places!!
If I'm absent from your blogs please don't fret!! I will be back in the new year to leave you all some love!!

"Snow Wonderful"

I used the Crazy Circles 12x12 sheet and I cut it in half. I used the opened circles as frames for these small wintery pictures. First I covered the chipboard in gesso and then I dabbed clear distress stickles and yellow stickles randomly on the circles

Crazy Circles (unit of 3)

I also used chipboard snowflakes which I also covered in Gesso and distress stickles.

Snowflakes (units of 3)

Finally for the title I used the word Wonderful and called my layout Snow Wonderful!!

I used the Prima BAP sketch as an inspiration for this layout.

Wonderful (unit of 3)

I used the Prima BAP for this layout

Prima papers
2 Crafty chipboard
Flowers: Prima
clear stickles
yellow stickles
gesso
Martha Stewart Textured paste
Crafter's workshop 6x6 template
Ranger acrylic paint: yellow
Prima fluid chalk worn jeans
Prima resin bird
Prima alphas

My second layout is titled:

"Peaceful"

I took this serene photo outside the woods near my house. Those are the same woods from my fall pictures a few months back.

I quite like how the woods came to life in this photo.

I used the Hariet's Border underneath he photo. I simply covered it in textured paste and then dabbed it with chalk ink.

Hariet's Border (unit of 3)

I used Heidi's Vines again for this layout. Last month I used them for a fall layout and showed you a resist technique. This time I covered the vines in gesso and then painted them with Shimmerz Paint: blueberry cobbler. It came out very smooth so I dabbed some blue distress stickles randomly on the leaves.

Heidi's Vines (unit of 3)

To get the 3D effect, I printed 2 of the same photo and used one of them as a background. I used the other photo and cut some trees out of it. Then I raised them with pop dots for a 3D effect.

Finally I used the Fine Snowflakes and the peace word from the ATC Words 1 pack. I covered the snowflakes in gesso and clear distress stickles like above and I inked the Peace word in fluid chalk ink.

I used the December sketch from Paper Stories as an inspiration for this layout.
