Mom

Here is a layout I made with a sketch from the Pion Designs blog. I used their "For Mother" papers with some beautiful Prima flowers. I added lots of layers behind the picture and left a lot of white space.

2 Good news to share!!

First, I'm being published in the Fall Issue of Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine.
I was so happy when I received their email. I can't post the layout but if you do order the Magazine, look for my layout in the Fall 2012 Issue.

Secondly, I wanted to share the inspiration class I attended this weekend. I attended 2 Donna Downey Classes this weekend. I had so much fun learning so many different techniques. I learned how to use many of the products I already own in many new innovative ways. It was a little out of my conmfort zone because I'm a hard core scrapbooker and not an art journaler. However I loved every minute of it.
To keep a long story short. Here is one of the Canvas projects I created.
We also started a journal but the pages are a work in progress and are not finished yet. When I finish some of them I might post them.
In the meantime, here are some pictures from yesterday and my project:

Trust the Journey

I made this layout and dedicated it to my mom. She is an exceptional woman, person, mother, grand-mother, friend....and the list can go on. She's been through so much in her life and I thought that she deserves to have a layout of her own.
I used these beautiful Glitz Designs papers along with a sketch from Get Creative to design this layout for 2 challenges. First challenge from the Glitz Designs Blog which challenged us to scrap about an exceptional woman. This wasn't really hard to do.
The second challenge was a sketch from Get Creative.
I love burlap feel of this layout along with the flower and chipboard elements.
Here is part of my journaling. I'm keeping the rest private but wanted to share some.

" My mom is an exceptional woman. She as been through so much in her life but she always rises up again even when she falls. She is positive and hopeful. She is a survivor. She is brave, courageous, kind, loving, caring , funny and can always put a smile on your face. She is my best friend, one of my closest soul mates. I hope to have her for a long time in this lifetime and for many lifetimes to come......"

Dream

Here is a layout that I made with BoBunny Country Garden with May's BoBunny Sketch. I challenged myself to avoid using flowers, which I tend to use in all my layouts. I like how simple my layout turned out.
I'm also entering this layout in a challenge at Simon Says Stamps which basically is the easiest challenge. Anything goes challenge. How much easier can this be????

Because of You

I designed this layout as a ode to my son to thank him for giving me the best gift in the world: the gift of being a mother.
I used Nadia's sketch from Once Upon a Sketch and journaled about how happy I was when I became a mother for the first time.
I used these amazing papers by 7 Dots Studios. I combined 2 collections: Dreamer and Wonderland. For my journaling, I hid an envelope behind the layout and I was able to get the string across from the other side to tie it.
here is the journaling:

"After we got married, we wanted to have a child very badly but no matter what we tried, conceiving a child was not in our fate. We decided to adopt a child in the year 2000 and when we met you in July 2001, it was the happiest day of our lives. Because of you I am a mother. Because of you my heart and soul rejoiced. Because of you I have the best job in the world. Being your mom is a privileged that G-d granted me and I cherished every day for that miracle. You are my miracle. You are my salvation like your name says. You were given to me by G-d and I thank him every day for giving me you. You are so special in so many ways. I love you with my heart and soul"

I'm also entering this LO for the Scrap Africa Mother's day Challenge.

What a Wonderful World

This is my ScrapFit reveal for Workout # 68
The workout today is to use mists on your project.
I used these beautiful 7 Dots Studio papers and different matching embellishments. I matted the photo in corrugated cardboard after I painted it with Gesso and misted it. I also misted the envelope under the title. Finally I splattered some black paint on the white background.
I used a sketch challenge at ScrapFriends for this design (see below)

Polymer Clay Flower Embellishment Tutorial

I used the Polymer Clay that came inside my Scrap That 2nd Anniversary Kit.

Here are the instructions:

1. Knead the clay, roll it into a ball and flatten it into a pancake:

2. Take a flower punch, or any punch you want (butterfly, leaf, etc)

3. Press the flat dough into the back of the punch. Then pull it out out so it makes an impression like a mold. Cut out left over clay. You can make little balls to decorate around the centre like I did.

4. Bake clay according to package instructions.

5. Once the clay cools down, paint it with acrylic paint. You can match the colors to your project. I used blue and silver to match the colors of the kit.

6. Once paint is dry, cover the embellishment with Glossy Accents to make it shine.

Use it on your layout like this:

I hope you enjoyed the tutorial,
Keren
