Admiring You Is So Easy

I can't believe how out of my element was to make this layout. It is not even similar to anything I've designed before. As a background I used 7 Gypsies paper which was torn and inked in Tim Holtz "red brick" distress ink. Then I used a brick template by "The Crafter's Workshop" and inked it in red to get the brick effect to match the picture. I used the brick effect as an element for a challenge at Challenge Me Happy. It's the first challenge of this cool new blog. They gave us a picture as an inspiration and we had to pick an element that we liked from the picture and scrapbook it. I love challenges because they make me a better scrapper and help me come out of my element and try new things.
On this layout I also used a lot of metal embellishments. I actually went through my stash and took out everything that matched the layout. Under the picture I used a metal mesh from "Memory Makers" as a mat.
For the title I used the word "Admiring" which is the new word challenge for Bird is the Word . The page is busy but I'm quite pleased with how it turned out!!

A.K.A Calapillow

So my daughter has this very cute way of saying Caterpillar. Since she can't say it properly, it actually sounds as if she's saying Calapillow. It is so adorable. Although she's a girly girl, she loves pickimg up caterpillars and worms from the ground. Last time we were at the park she found a caterpillar on the ground and played with it as if it was a toy. She held it in her hands and let it crawl on her arms.
I used the pictures I took that day to make a layout based on the June 15th sketch at Once Upon a Sketch.

I used lots of products by Webster's pages. I really like their bloomers and mesh flowers. They add so much character to a page. I cut out the flowery border from a DCWV paper pad called Mariposa. I really like the double meaning of the caterpillar and the butterflies on this layout.

Son

So after scrapbooking girly pages for a few days I decided to design a layout about my son. I rotated sketch # 48 by Sketchabilities to make this amazing layout about him. The whole time while I was working on it, I had the song "Time in a bottle" stuck in my head because I can't believe my son is 10 years old:

"If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is to save every day 'til eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you

If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I'd save every day like a treasure and then
Again, I would spend them with you......"
I love how this layout turned out. I used a very old paper that probably a lot of you have in your stash but have never used. I combined it with some brown cardstock, webster's pages and K&Company papers. The flowers which I love, love, love, are from Petaloo and the gemstones from Prima. I did something on this layout that I never do, I put a hidden journaling tag under the photo. It has a very cute poem about boys written on it:

Being a Boy is not so
much about your destination
in Life but choosing the
path that leads to a
colourful journey, filled
with good friends and
awesome moments

Yor personality is a
portrait of yourself.
Don't take yourself too
seriously; the best moments
in life come when you least
expect them. Make today an
adventure. Keep dreaming,
Keep smiling

Sassy

Here is my take on the June Sketch Challenge by My scrapbook Nook. Its another wonderful sketch by Nadia who is hosting the challenge this month.
I used new papers by Sassafras and flowers by Prima. The chipboard flowers are from an old stash by Technique Tuesday and I sprayed the page with Tattered Angels mist.  I called it Sassy because it really describes my daughter's attitude most of the time. Look at the way she's standing in this picture and posing!! So Sassy!!

Amazing

First of all I wanted to apologize to all of you who follow my blog for not posting for a little while. My son got obsessed with Harry Potter and wanted to see all the movies in the past couple of weeks. Since I'm a big Harry Potter fan and my son thought he would be scared to watch them alone we sat together and saw movies 1-7. Needless to say, that took away most of my nights and therefore I didn't scrapbook. I have to say that it was really worth it to spend time with my son watching those beloved movies. I was so happy I was able to share that experience together with him. I can't wait to take him to the theater to see the second part of the last movie. I can't wait for him to find out if Harry lives or dies.

Now getting back to scrapbooking. I designed a layout today based on a sketch by Nadia Cannizzo. She is a fantastic scrapbooker and was very kind to offer me some great advice in the past couple of weeks. I admire all her work and how much time and effort she puts into everything she does. Her current sketch challenge on her blog Once Upon a Sketch is below. The journaling criteria for this challenge is to journal about a female. It could be anyone, mother, daughter, friend, etc. I decided to make this layout about my daughter. I finally used these amazing fairtytale papers by Graphic 45. I bought these papers but never got a chance to use them before. I finally got them out and did all the finicky cutting that it allows me to do. The journaling card says:
"Everyone says you look like a fairy....
You say you look like a princess....
I say you are one of a kind....
                                      Just amazing!!"

I'm also using this layout for a challenge on Bird is the Word. The challenge this month is to use the word "Amazing" on your title or journaling in your layout. I used "Amazing" in both the title and  the journaling because fit the layout perfectly.

Below are a few close-ups of my layout, just scroll down!!
