Wishes

How cute is this picture of all the cousins making wishes by the fountain. It was such a great moment and we were able to catch it in a snapshot. I used the perfect Webster's Pages paper which just happened to have a wishing well on it. I thought it was the perfect theme.

Garden Beauty

I love these pictures of my daughter last summer in the garden. She looks so natural and was so happy to just run barefoot on the grass. I had to use Webster's pages not only because I love them so much, but because they fit the theme so well. I love working with their pages. Its so easy to be creative. I'm a big fan!!

Remember

I'm sorry I have not posted for a while but I was under the weather with a bad cold. Here is a nice picture of my son. I like his smile here and want to remember him how he was at this age. I love the vintage pendant I used here. Its from the January Swirlydoos kit. Their kits are always packed with great stuff. You should check out their website.

Celebrate Snow- Blog Challenge #21- Layout

Here is another challenge based on a sketch hosted by My Mind's Eye. Its Blog Challenge #21 and the theme is "Celebrate Life". Below is my design and the original sketch. I used their beautiful papers "Lost and Found" which are very soft and creamy. I chose to celebrate snow. So many of us tend to celebrate and feel happy in the summer holidays. It is much harder to feel happy and celebrate winter. I once read an anonymous quote that said "Laugh when it rains, any fool can do so when the sun shines". This quote reminds me of the celebration I chose. Sometimes we should celebrate the unexpected!!!

Paintings

Along with my passion for scrapbooking, I've been taking an art class to find other ways to express myself through art. I started last October and I find it relaxing but much harder to do because its not as easy to plan for it. In scrapbooking I can plan and design a layout and then glue it. In painting its different and I just have to find my own personal way of expression. Here are my first two paintings:

Birds and Butterflies....

As you can see from my other entries, I love birds and butterflies. They are so meaningful to me.....freedom, nurture, beauty, nature....
Here are two layouts combining browns and red which I feel go so well together. For the first one I've used a music sheet mask and an acrylic bird on which I've stamped a nest with Stazon. On the second layout I used some Tim Holtz grunge flourishes, mirror birds from the dollar store and I made my own flowers by following Gabrielle Pollaco's tutorial on how to make your own distressed flowers. While you are there, check out her website. She's a very talented scrapbooker.

A Perfect Memory

I love this picture of my son. Its serious yet you might think he's about to burst into laughter. I made this layout based on a sketch by Page Maps. Its a layout for their Websters Pages sketch contest. Below is the sketch and my design for it.  I used Webster's Pages because I love them so much and it is the theme for this contest.

If you've never used sketches from Page Maps its never to late to start. They are very helpful in giving you an idea for your layouts.

Follow your Dreams

Here is a layout I made for a Traditional Challenge at Webster"s Pages blog. The challenge is hosted my Gerry and here are the rules:

Here are the details:
1. The majority of your project must contain Webster`s Pages products.
2. The project must have a shaped background.
3. You must post your project in the gallery under the file name "March Challenge - (title of your project)"  and post a link in this thread.
4. The challenge will be open from March 1st to March 31st, 12 midnight PST.

I used an Acrylic transparent flower and inked it with green alcohol inks. Then I added different cut-outs from Webster's Pages papers. To finish off I added flowers and vines along with the butterflies. I love this gorgeous picture of my daughter taken this past summer.

About me!!

Many scrapbookers forget to scrapbook about themselves. They'll scrapbook their kids, spouse, nature, trips but never about how they see themselves. Isn't it a great memory for the next generation to have a little piece of the person behind the camera, the designer and creator of these beautiful layouts. I encourage everyone to scrapbook about yourselves. It is liberating and inspiring.
Here are two of me:

I love Turquoise....

I love these turquoise and blue layouts I designed a few months ago. I love the combination of these colours not only because they're my favourite but they look so good with these soft Parisian Anthology papers by Pink Paislee. I loved combining the white and gray with the turquoise. I also used acrylics pieces from Clear Scraps which if you haven't tried yet, they are great. To scrapbook on them you must use alcohol inks, Stazon inks for stamping or Stickles to make them glittery. I used lots of flowers, gemstones and glitter on these layouts because I love them so much.

Hope you enjoy these!!!

My first post

I've been wanting to start my own blog for some time now, so I can post my scrapbooking work and my paintings. I've taken the first step and here is my first post. I hope this blog inspires you to express your emotions through art from your heart and your soul.
